Each community location will be identified by the satellite name as follows:
MI Stars Revolution
MI Stars Lightning
Others to come
How many teams will be in each hub?
Michigan Stars Elite will be no more than 2 teams per age group starting this year with 2011-2004 and expanding each year.
Michigan Stars Revolution & Lightning will run as they do today.
When is this change effective?
This change will be effective with try-outs for the 2021/2022 season.
What are the benefits of this change to the players and club?
This change will give our players a pathway to compete at top levels and get exposure for our players. It will also provide a pathway from youth to pro on both the girls and the boys side.
High quality licensed professional coaches
Large player pools in every age group and a great opportunity to assemble players of like ability on a team to compete on all levels.
Opportunities for players to participate in additional training sessions and games (to assist teams other than their primary team) when that is something the player is interested in.
Expanded college recruiting program and college coach contacts
Exceptional indoor and outdoor facilities for all of our players
Michigan Stars Training Center
RSC Complex
Michigan Revolution Training Center
More opportunities for our players
This partnership provides players, from both clubs, access to greater development and programming options, than if the two clubs would remain independent on their own.
Long term player development plan
What are we changing?
Our name/brand – Michigan Stars Elite
Our logo – A new Michigan Stars design
Our team names – Our team names will change to reflect the new brand: MI Stars Elite, MI Stars Lightning, MI Stars Revolution.
Our uniforms – We will become an Adidas partner club, but our colors will remain navy and white.
Training curriculum – We have combined our training curriculum to continue to provide the best possible development path for our players.
What can we expect at the MI Stars Revolution & MI Stars Lightning locations?
The founding clubs (MI Rev & MI Lightning) satellite locations will operate the same as they do today under the same leadership.
We will retain existing coaches and administrative staff.
Our family culture and events will not change.
Training and facilities – Each satellite will continue to use the same training/game fields as they do today.
What can we expect for MI Stars Elite top tier teams?
Age groups – We will create 1-2 teams at each age group (2011-2004) and expand each year.
Training – All MI Stars Elite teams will use the state-of-the-art Michigan Stars Sports Center. The Center is dedicated for the exclusive use of Michigan Stars Elite youth players and pros.
Games – We will use MI Stars Sports Center as our home field for these teams.
Leagues – Our goal is to put our teams in the Director's Academy, MSPSP Premier 1 and NLC.
Tournaments – We will select tournaments and showcases that will give these players as much exposure as possible.
College recruiting – We will host college nights and college workshops for interested players.
Will there be opportunities to learn more?
Yes, the plan is to host informational meetings in the near term to answer respective members’ questions. These may take the form of Town Hall meetings, division meetings, age group meetings, or team meetings.
Do I need to do anything right now?
There is nothing you need to do differently than if the clubs remained separate on their own. Enjoy the rest of the spring season, and register for tryouts at the end of the spring season.
